In Group I of the UEFA qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Norway secured a commanding 5-0 victory over Moldova away from home.
The visitors effectively decided the match in the first half, storming to a 4-0 lead while maintaining complete control of the game. In the second half, the Norwegian team further extended their advantage, reaching five goals while the Moldovans had no response to their dominance.
Norway’s formidable attacking line lived up to its reputation, with both Erling Haaland and Alexander Sørloth finding the back of the net. Arsenal star Martin Ødegaard also delivered an outstanding performance, contributing an assist, five key passes, and an impressive 91% pass accuracy.
Additionally, Thelo Aasgaard, who registered both a goal and an assist, deserves recognition, along with Borussia Dortmund right-back Julian Ryerson, who was named Man of the Match after also scoring and providing an assist.
With such a convincing performance, Norway has proven that they are a serious contender in the World Cup qualifiers. If Haaland and his teammates maintain this form, they have a strong chance of securing their first World Cup qualification in 28 years.
